چکیده
Toothpick is mainly used to remove food particles, fishbone and meat stuck between the teeth after a meal. Poor handling exposure of toothpicks on dinner tables in many eateries could pose public health risk. In this study, total one hundred (100) wooden were randomly sampled from twenty (20) five (5) locations Benin City. A packet toothpick purchased shop served as control. Microbiological analysis antibiotic sensitivity tests involved use standard methods disc agar diffusion method, respectively. The percentage occurrence bacterial isolates samples include Bacillus sp. (25 %), Staphylococcus (20 Streptococcus Proteus (15 Salmonella (10 Escherichia coli (5 %) Klebsiella while fungal Saccharomyces cerevisiae (80 Penicillium Mucor %). resistant antibiotics study with exception gentamicin ofloxacin. order prevent microbial contamination which lead disease transmission, should be rinsed potable water before using it. Toothpicks not exposed tables. Instead, automatic dispenser provided eateries.

متن کاملIdentification and antibiotic susceptibility of bacterial isolates from probiotic products.
In the present study, a total of 55 European probiotic products were evaluated with regard to the identity and the antibiotic resistance of the bacterial isolates recovered from these products. Bacterial isolation from 30 dried food supplements and 25 dairy products, yielded a total of 268 bacterial isolates selected from several selective media. Counts of food supplements showed bacterial reco...
متن کاملAssessment of antibiotic susceptibility in Lactobacillus isolates from chickens
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to determine the susceptibility of 88 Lactobacillus isolates derived from chickens to antibiotic substances and to detect drug-resistance genes. RESULTS The minimal inhibitory concentration of 13 antimicrobial substances was determined by the broth microdilution method, and resistance genes were detected by PCR. We recorded a high prevalence of resistance ...

متن کاملMolecular characterization and antibiotic susceptibility pattern of caprine Shiga toxin producing-Escherichia coli (STEC) isolates from India
The present study was conducted to detect the occurrence, serotype, genotype, phylogenetic relationship and antimicrobial resistance pattern of STEC from healthy goats of West Bengal, India. From the 125 faecal samples collected from healthy goats, 245 isolates were identified as Escherichia coli. The E. coli harbouring any gene for Shiga toxins (stx1/stx2) was detected in 36 (14.7%) of the 245...
